A Detailed Guide on How to Keep a Wig on While Dancing

Method 1: Using Wig Glue, Hairpins, and a Wide Headband

You will need Wig Glue (with brush applicator), hair clips or bobby pins, one wide headband.

1. Attack the wig from behind with a liberal amount of glue. How much you use depends on how secure you want it to be. We recommend approximately one inch across by at least a couple of inches up the back of the head.

2. Comb excess bubbles out towards the bottom and let sit 24 hours before wearing. It’s essential to take your time with this method to ensure maximum hold! If you have shorter nails, we suggest using tweezers for this step so that your hands don’t get stuck in the sticky adhesive!

3. Once the glue has set, place your wig onto your head from the back – this is why it helps to have friends around! Most people find that position on top of, rather than pulled down over, your hair works best.

4. Next, you need to secure the front of the wig with clips or bobby pins. You can use as many as needed, but it’s important not to try and cover too much at once because you don’t want any pinching! How tight your wig feels depends on how big/small you are, so some trial and error might be necessary. Wig Glue will ensure that it stays in place without slipping or sliding all night long!

5. To finish this look off, we recommend securing a wide headband behind your wig. This will cover any wispy bits of hair that might peek out the back of your ‘do and make you look like an actual dance floor queen!

Method 2: Using Wig Tape

You will need Wig Tape (comes in a roll), bobby pins, one hair elastic.

1. Starting at the nape of your neck, run a piece of tape up to the crown of your head and secure it down with two or three bobby pins. How much you use depends on how big/small you are, so some trial and error might be necessary! Make sure that no parts of the wig are peeking out from under the tape because this would look very strange!

2. Repeat step one until all pieces of tape along the back have been pinned down – make sure there aren’t any loose ends hanging out; otherwise, it’ll get obvious when dancing! Keep going until both sides meet in front near your face.

3. Finally, tie the front of your wig with a hair elastic for an even more secure hold! Taping down wigs can be scary on busy dance floors, but this method is pretty fail-safe.

Method 3: Using Wig Grips

You will need Wig Grips (comes in a roll), bobby pins, one hair elastic.

1. Starting at the nape of your neck, run a piece of tape up to the crown of your head and secure it down with two or three bobby pins. How much you use depends on how big/small you are, so some trial and error might be necessary! Make sure that no parts of the wig peek out from under the tape because this would look very strange!

Method 4: Using Wigs Caps

You will need Wig Caps (comes in a roll), bobby pins, one hair elastic.

Instructions:

1. Wash and condition your wig, then comb it out with a wide-tooth comb to remove any tangles from the manufacturing process.

2. When you part your hair, take a small section of hair from above each ear and backcomb these strands at their roots.

3. Lay the Wig Cap flat on a table with one open end facing up. The Lace side should be facing down towards the table top. Place your Wig on top of the Wig Cap, lining up all four combs to evenly distribute along each side of the opening/that means that there is one on ea side. So two pairs in total). Ensure that a small section of hair shows from your forehead at the front and a more extensive section together with a part in the center at the back.

4. Bring the open edge of Cap over to meet center-back (or where is comfortable),  then bobby pin both ends securely together.

5. Use more pins around your Wig to fasten it into place, then use 2 or 3 bobby pins through each comb, securing them into the Wig itself. Repeat this process on both sides evenly, making sure you don’t put any extra pressure on one side than the other (this would cause too much tension, which could stretch out your wig). You may need to adjust some sections for comfort once in place, but make sure the Lace sits flat on the table top.

Use more pins

7. Place your wig on your head and adjust for comfort, pulling any stray hairs into place over the Wig Caps under the band.

8. Your wig should now be secure! Brush once more than style or do whatever you want with it, knowing that it is not going anywhere until you are ready to take it off again!
